Nature Conservation Unit (NCU) has established a contemporary laboratory (Plant Ecophysiology Lab) equipped with modern research infrastructure since 2006. This infrastructure was acquired through the participation of the Unit in several research projects, and through the support of Frederick University. The Unit's infrastructure includes equipment for both laboratory and fieldwork as well as the necessary information technology equipment. The Unit, realizing contemporary methods regarding sustainable management of wild populations (for both flora and fauna), has also established a Genetics Laboratory with up-to-date research infrastructure to effectively carry out its activities since 2010. Moreover, the Unit hosts a Seed Bank for ex situ conservation of rare, endemic and important plant species, since 2006.

The Genetics Laboratory infrastructure was acquired through the participation of NCU in the LIFE+ programme entitled  "Establishment of a Plant Micro-Reserve Network in Cyprus for the Conservation of Priority Species and Habitats (PLANT-NET CY)", as well as through the support of Frederick University. Also, significant part of the equipment was donated by the United Nations Development Programme - Action for Cooperation and Trust (UNDP-ACT), within the framework of cooperation for the PLANT-NET CY project.
