Preparation of the Cyprus Biodiversity Strategy


Funding Agency: Department of Environment (Ministry of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Environment).

Host organisation: Frederick University (NCU members participate in the project).

Scientists from the National and Kapodestrian University of Athens, the University of Ioannina (Greece), University of Cyprus, Cyprus University of Technology and Open University of Cyprus, also collaborate.

Project's Main Objective: The preparation of the Cyprus Biodiversity Strategy includes the description of the current status of the biodiversity in Cyprus and the threats it faces, the measures for the protection and conservation of the biodiversity and actions for the reduction of the biodiversity's loss. The Strategy also includes general information on the biodiversity in global and European level, along with the targets set for 2010 and thereafter.
